County calls for renewal of vehicle fees

City councils around San Mateo County are being urged to support the continuation of a local vehicle registration fee that has helped towns maintain streets and ease traffic, and will play a role in bringing refueling stations for hydrogen-powered automobiles to the area.

The City and County Association of Governments, or C/CAG, in San Mateo County has asked every city council and the county to adopt resolutions supporting Senate Bill 613, which would continue a state law introduced by state Sen. Joe Simitian, D-Palo Alto, when he was in the state Assembly.
