ENVIRONMENTAL LOBBYIST SHANNON EDDY FEATURED ON SIMITIAN’S CAPITOL FOCUS

SACRAMENTO - Assemblyman Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto) announced today that this month’s guest on his television show Capitol Focus is Shannon Eddy, Senior Legislative Advocate of V. John White Associates.  In addition to speaking with Eddy about current environmental policy and the role of lobbyists in Sacramento, Simitian discusses the current state budget crisis and his current work to develop his 2002 Legislative Session bill package.

“Joe Simitian is someone to whom the environmental community frequently turned this past year, and I am pleased that he is highlighting some of their priorities on Capitol Focus,”  said Eddy who has served such clients as the Sierra Club, Natural Resources Defense Council, and Clean Power Campaign.  “This underscores the need, even in the midst of this budget crisis, to protect public health and our natural resources as best we can.”

Eddy is also the Senior Policy Consultant with the Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Technologies (CEERT), a non-profit coalition of the nation’s leading public interest environmental groups and businesses working on energy efficiency and renewable technologies.

Simitian’s 30-minute, monthly televised show follows the legislative calendar and informs Peninsula residents about current events in Sacramento.  Each show covers a range of topics of interest to the community and features a significant special guest.  “Communicating with the folks I represent is a top priority for me,” said Simitian.  “And with constituents in 15 different cities spanning two different counties, it’s a challenge.”

“Capitol Focus provides a wonderful opportunity to let my constituents know what’s going on in the Capitol, and in the District, as well as the good work being done by many of my colleagues.”  Simitian promises that the show will be, “timely, candid and always lively.”
