JOANNE MCNABB, DIRECTOR OF THE CA OFFICE OF PRIVACY PROTECTION FEATURED ON CAPITOL FOCUS

SACRAMENTO - Assemblyman Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto) announced today that this month’s guest on his monthly television show, Capitol Focus, Joanne McNabb, Director of the CA Office of Privacy Protection.  The Office of Privacy Protection was created by State legislation, and opened its doors in July of 2001.  Its role is to be the State’s “watchdog” on privacy issues and to help Californians prevent and recover from identity theft.  In addition to speaking with McNabb about how consumers can protect themselves from becoming victims of identity theft, Simitian discusses the highlights of his current bill package and some of the exciting things that he’s been doing in Sacramento.

“The Office of Privacy Protection was created to help Californians protect themselves against identity theft,” said Ms. McNabb.  ” I was glad to have the opportunity to share some of our information with Silicon Valley residents.”

Simitian’s 30-minute, monthly-televised show follows the legislative calendar and informs Peninsula and South Bay residents about current events in Sacramento.  Each show covers a range of topics of interest to the community and features a significant special guest.  “Communicating with the folks I represent is a top priority for me,” said Simitian.  “With Capitol Focus I can make sure that what takes place 120 miles away in Sacramento is shared with the people I represent at home.”

“Capitol Focus provides a wonderful opportunity to let my constituents know what’s going on in the Capitol, and in the District, as well as the good work being done by many of my colleagues.”  Simitian promises that the show will be, “timely, candid and always lively.”
