SB 363: Teacher credentialing: identification number (2007)

Summary

In 2006, Joe authored a seminal piece of legislation (SB 1614) to create a statewide database of California teachers.  When fully developed, the database will allow researchers to provide policymakers with critical information about the performance of teacher training programs—so we know which dollars are working and which are wasted.  The database will also help us answer important questions about the distribution of the teacher workforce, and give us a better understanding of who is teaching what.  SB 363 is a follow-on measure that makes minor, technical changes to clarify SB 1614.
