SB 1329: Prescription Drug Recycling Programs (2012)

Summary

Senator Simitian’s SB 798 from 2005 allowed counties to recover unused prescription medications from skilled nursing facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and wholesalers, and to distribute them without charge to people of modest means who need the medications.  SB 1329 makes changes to that law that will expand these programs and help serve more Californians in need of less expensive medications.

After the bill passed the Legislature, Senator Simitian sent a letter to the Governor urging his signature.
