SB 1359: Tax Check-offs for Cancer Research (2012)

Summary

This bill extends the sunsets of two California personal income tax “check-offs” that would have expired at the end of 2012.

California taxpayers will continue to have the option of checking off these boxes on their tax returns to donate to the California Breast Cancer Research Fund or, separately, California Cancer Research Fund.  These tax check-offs generated about $450,000 each for cancer research in 2011.

After the bill passed the Legislature, Senator Simitian sent a letter to the Governor urging his signature.
