SB 1516: Library Bond (2008)
Summary
Senate Bill 1516 places a $4 billion General Obligation Bond measure on the 2010 statewide general election ballot to fund library construction and renovation.
Proceeds from bond sales will be deposited into the California Public Library Construction and Renovation Fund of 2010 and then made available, through the State Librarian, for grants to local entities for:
• Construction of new library facilities
• Land acquisition for remodeling or rehabilitation projects
• Remodeling or rehabilitation of existing library facilities
• Purchase and installment of furnishings and equipment
• Payments to architects, engineers or other professionals instrumental in construction or remodel projects
