SIMITIAN ANNOUNCES EDUCATION UPDATE MEETING

PALO ALTO  - Assemblyman Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto) announced today that he will host an “Education Update” meeting on May 16th for San Mateo County and Santa Clara County school board members, superintendents, teachers, staff and parents.

This update meeting is particularly important, and was scheduled at this time because it will coincide with the release of the Governor’s “May Revise” Budget Proposal, which is expected to be out just days before the meeting.

As Chair of the Assembly Budget Subcommittee on Education Finance, Simitian will give an in-depth update on the Governor’s latest K-12 education budget proposal, and will discuss funding priorities.

“We’ve got our work cut out for us. We’re about to face plenty of challenges,” Simitian said.

The purpose of the meetings, Simitian explained, “is to hear from the folks in my district about their specific budget and policy concerns – to talk about what the State should or shouldn’t do in the interest of our schools and our kids. If my work in the Capitol is going to reflect the concerns of my district, conversations like these are absolutely essential.”

EDUCATION UPDATE MEETING:

Sunday, May 16, 12:00 P.M. – 1:30 P.M.
Palo Alto Unified School District Board Room
25 Churchill Rd.
Palo Alto, CA

To RSVP or request more information, please call Assemblyman Simitian’s district office at (650) 688-6384.

The public is invited.
