PALO ALTO – Assemblyman Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto) has plans to walk his talk. He kicks off his 2003 schedule for “Sidewalk Office Hours” the first week-end in May in San Jose’s Almaden Valley and Los Gatos.

“I’m looking forward to meeting people face-to-face,” he said. Simitian will be available for two-hour chunks of time throughout his Assembly district between May and October – to hear the specific challenges and concerns of his constituents. In all, Simitian will hold twenty different Sidewalk Office Hours.

The first Sidewalk Office Hours take place Saturday, May 3, in front of the Almaden Branch Library in San Jose. On Sunday, May 4, Assemblyman Simitian will be in Los Gatos at the Los Gatos Farmers’ Market. Both days’ events begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at noon.

“I chose the Almaden Valley and Los Gatos for my first stops this year because these two areas are new to my district. I want to hear first-hand what’s important to the folks there,” he said.

Pat Dando, San Jose Vice Mayor and Almaden Valley resident, is encouraging neighbors to attend the May 3rd event. “I’m excited that Assemblyman Simitian will be in the Almaden Valley. It will provide an opportunity for people in this area to learn more about the work the Assemblyman has done for our community and to share their thoughts and concerns on state issues with him,” she said.

Los Gatos Mayor Sandy Decker is looking forward to Simitian’s visit. “I’m delighted that Joe is taking the time to hear the concerns of the residents of Los Gatos, especially in these critical budget times,” Decker said.
