SIMITIAN TO READ TO FOURTH-GRADERS AT WALTER HAYS SCHOOL
PALO ALTO – State Senator Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto) will read to a class of fourth-grade students, taught by Holly Harrison and Jessica Tolerba, at Walter Hays Elementary School on Friday morning.
Simitian will read from the novel “Johnny Tremain” as part of the Guest Reader program in the class this year. Students write letters of invitation to potential guests from throughout the community. Guests come to the classroom and read from a favorite book. The guests talk about their occupations, and the children ask questions about what they do.
“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to share my love of reading with young students,” said Simitian, who graduated from Palo Alto High School.
Interested reporters or photographers should contact Simitian’s office in advance of the event so they can be escorted to the appropriate location on campus.
