SIMITIAN WILL HOLD “EDUCATION UPDATE” MEETING

SACRAMENTO - State Senator Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto) announced today that he will host his semi-annual “Education Update” meeting on January 28 for local school board members, superintendents, teachers, parents, and other education advocates.

As a member of the Senate Education Committee and the Senate Budget Subcommittee on Education, and as Chair of the new Senate Select Committee on California’s Master Plan for Education, Simitian will provide an in-depth update on K-12 education funding and policy proposals pending in Sacramento.  He will then open the floor to questions, concerns, and comments.

“Our schools face tremendous challenges in these tight budget times,” Simitian said.  “These ‘Education Updates’ give me an opportunity to know what local education advocates are thinking, and what matters most to them.  Knowing that helps me better serve our local schools and kids.”
