AB 2844: Property Taxes: land trusts: agriculture (2002)

Summary

AB 2844 (2002) would have created a new funding mechanism to sponsor conservation, preservation, improvement, maintenance, and continued existence of open space lands in San Mateo County.

Under AB 2844, nonprofit land trusts who lease their lands for agricultural use would have continued to pay their fair share of property taxes, but the County would have been allowed to set aside a portion of those property taxes for open space improvement. The bill would have applied only to San Mateo County.
