SB 1301 would require a unique identifier on pupil records in California’s student databases. This will improve the quality of statewide longitudinal data on student achievement, enable schools to readily determine the identity of pupils when they enroll, and enhance the linkage and evaluation of cross-segmental data between preschool, K-12, and higher education.
