SB 445: Library Records (2011)

Summary

Senate Bill 445 changes terminology in existing law to protect an individual’s privacy when using online library resources, such as text messages, online chat, e-books and e-mail.  The idea was submitted by a Cupertino resident as part of Senator Simitian’s annual “There Oughta Be A Law” contest.

After this bill passed the Legislature Senator Simitian sent a letter to the Governor urging his signature.
