SB 1509: School Design-Build Contracts (2012)

Summary

Senator Simitian’s SB 614 of 2007 temporarily expanded the authority of school districts and community college districts to enter into “design-build” contracts for facilities, a more streamlined process that saves time and money.  SB 1509 would repeal the “sunset” provision of that legislation, allowing school and community college districts to use design-build contracts indefinitely.

After the bill passed the Legislature, Senator Simitian sent a letter to the Governor urging his signature.
