      RAVENSWOOD SCHOOL DISTRICT EDUCATION FORUM TO BE HELD


    SACRAMENTO - Assemblyman Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto), Supervisor Rose Jacobs Gibson, and nonprofit community leader One East Palo Alto will host a community forum on Ravenswood School District on Wednesday, November 12, 2003, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Faith Baptist Church in East Palo Alto. The forum is being held to discuss the current fiscal state of the school district, the progress it has made with community-based literacy programs, and challenges and goals for the future.

    In September, Ravenswood School District saw a successful conclusion to its two-year-old reimbursement claim. Governor Davis signed Assembly Bill 1350, authored by Simitian, which will reimburse the school district $1.33 million for special education costs incurred in complying with a federal court order.
