New Tracking Frontier: Your License Plates

Look out, America. You are being watched.

Police forces and private companies are scanning auto license plates and building huge databases of location information—whether or not the owners of the cars have done anything wrong.

In this Wall Street Journal video, State Senator Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto) discusses a bill he authored which would have required that private contractors purge this information after a certain period of time.
