SIMITIAN AND GORDON TO HOST “EDUCATION UPDATE”

PALO ALTO – On Saturday, State Senator Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto) and Assemblyman Rich Gordon (D-Menlo Park) will jointly host an Education Update to discuss school funding, K-12 legislation, and the status of the California education system. The update, which is open to the public, will be held from 10 a.m. until noon at the Palo Alto Unified School District board room.

After hosting Education Updates for 12 years, Simitian will hold his final update alongside Assemblyman Gordon, who will continue in the tradition of organizing such forums.

“The state of education is at a critical juncture,” said Gordon. “It is evident the community has greatly valued Senator Simitian not only for his contributions to California’s K-12 education system, but for discussing policy matters in a constructive and honest manner. I look forward to taking the reins of hosting these important updates and continuing the conversation surrounding education with community members.”

“I’m delighted that Rich is willing to carry on our tradition of Education Updates,” Simitian said. “I know the community has found them helpful, but equally important is the role they’ve played in keeping me informed about what’s happening in our schools and classrooms locally.”
