PALO ALTO – State Senator Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto) announced today that he will be adding additional dates to his “sidewalk office hours” calendar. The Senator has scheduled seven additional dates in July and August. Simitian invites community members to visit and voice their questions and concerns about state legislative issues.
The upcoming sidewalk office hours will take place in Palo Alto, Campbell, Cupertino, San Carlos, Los Altos and San Jose’s Willow Glen neighborhood. Simitian will host additional outreach events throughout the year.
“I look forward to talking to people one-on-one,” said Simitian. “Sidewalk office hours give both the public and me a chance to interact in an informal, friendly atmosphere. With the amount of time that my job requires me to be in Sacramento, it’s tremendously helpful to hear first-hand what folks have on their minds.”
Simitian holds his sidewalk office hours at local farmers’ markets. All questions are welcome, and no appointment is required.
“The farmers’ markets are a wonderful venue for sidewalk office hours,” Simitian said. “The setting is relaxed, it’s easy to find, and a lot of folks stop by to talk on the spur of the moment. In these challenging times, it’s more important than ever for elected officials to stay in touch.”
