SIMITIAN TO HOLD “EDUCATION UPDATE” FOR 11th SENATE DISTRICT

PALO ALTO - State Senator Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto) announced today that he will hold an “Education Update” meeting on Saturday, June 4th in Palo Alto for school board members, superintendents, teachers, parents, and other education advocates.

As in past years, Simitian said he expects many of the questions to stem from the Governor’s budget proposal. “I’m particularly anxious to hear from folks given these challenging budget times,” said Simitian.

Simitian, a member of the Senate Education Committee, will provide an in-depth update on K-12 education funding issues and legislation pending in Sacramento.  He will then open the floor to questions, concerns, and comments.

“These ‘Education Updates’ give me an opportunity to hear what local education leaders and advocates are thinking.  Knowing that helps me better serve our local schools and kids,” Simitian said. “Given the current budget situation, it’s more important than ever for elected officials to hear from the folks they represent.”
