SACRAMENTO - State Senator Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto) announced today that he will host an “Education Update” meeting on Saturday, May 17 in Palo Alto for local school board members, superintendents, teachers, parents and other education advocates.
“The ‘Education Update’ gives me an opportunity to know what local education leaders and advocates are thinking, and what matters most to them. Knowing that helps me better serve our kids and our schools,” Simitian said.
Simitian timed this meeting to coincide with the publication of the Governor’s May revision budget proposal, which was released today. Simitian added, “I’m particularly anxious to discuss the Governor’s latest proposal with folks in my district and to hear about their ongoing concerns as the Legislature takes up its budget work.”
As a member of the Senate Education Committee and Chair of the Senate Select Committee on California’s Master Plan for Education, Simitian will provide an in-depth update on K-12 education funding and policy proposals pending in Sacramento. He will then open the floor to questions, concerns, and comments.
