SB 33: Financial Elder Abuse Sunset Elimination (2011)

Summary

In 2005 Senator Simitian passed the Elder and Dependent Adult Financial Abuse Act (Senate Bill 1018). That law aims to prevent elder financial abuse by mandating that financial institutions, at the frontline of witnessing financial abuse, report financial abuse to authorities. Senate Bill 33 extends the Elder and Dependent Adult Financial Abuse Act by eliminating a January 1, 2013 sunset date in the law.

After the bill passed the Legislature, Senator Simitian sent a letter to the Governor urging his signature.
