SACRAMENTO – Assemblyman Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto) will host an open house at his district office on Thursday, September 20, from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. Simitian invites community members to visit and bring questions and ideas regarding state legislative issues. Staff members from Simitian’s Sacramento and local offices will be on hand to chat with community members. Free brochures on a variety of topics will be available, and refreshments will be served.
“We encourage everyone in the district to come by,” said Simitian. “This is a great opportunity for folks to visit my new district office and chat a bit with me, my staff, and other members of the community.” Skyrocketing rents forced Simitian out of his predecessor’s Palo Alto office space, and forced a 3-month temporary relocation to a vacated bar in downtown Palo Alto. Simitian’s office ultimately ended up in Town and Country Village in Palo Alto – a good location in his view.
“Three different locations during my first four months in office was certainly a challenge,” said Simitian, “but my staff was just great, and the public was very understanding. Eventually we’ve settled into a good location that allows us to serve the public well. We’d love for folks to come by and familiarize themselves with our office, our staff and the help we can provide. It’s also a great opportunity for me to hear directly from the folks I represent.”
