AB 400: Community Volunteer Ballot Designation (2001)

Summary

AB 400 (200) recognizes the contributions that volunteers make in our community by allowing those who run for elected office to use the designation of “Community Volunteer” on the ballot.  Previously a candidate was required to designate a principal profession, vocation, or occupation, but could not use the term “Community Volunteer” even if that was his or her principal activity outside the home.

For more information, you can read the AB 400 "Fact Sheet" prepared by a member of Senator Simitian's staff.
