SIMITIAN COMMENTS ON GOVERNOR DAVIS’ STATE OF THE STATE ADDRESS

SACRAMENTO – In response to Gov. Gray Davis’ State of the State Address, Assemblyman Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto) said, “the Governor’s proposals to focus on job growth and economic development are right on target.”

“I’m particularly pleased that the Governor will be working to put the state school bond and affordable housing bond to work as quickly as possible,” said Simitian. “The need in both areas is great, and the timing couldn’t be better in terms of a boost to our economy.”

Simitian co-authored both measures last year, which voters approved as Propositions 46 (housing bond) and 47 (school bond) in the November ballot. In campaigning on behalf of the measures last fall, Simitian argued that both measures would generate significant economic benefits to the State.
