SIMITIAN TO HOLD ‘SIDEWALK OFFICE HOURS’ AT LOCAL FARMERS’ MARKETS

PALO ALTO – State Senator Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto) announced today that he will hold “sidewalk office hours” in six local communities in June. Simitian invites community members to visit and voice their questions and concerns about state legislative issues.

The upcoming sidewalk office hours will take place in Palo Alto, Menlo Park, San Carlos, Cupertino, San Jose’s Willow Glen neighborhood, and Campbell. Simitian will host additional outreach events throughout the year.

“I enjoy meeting people face-to-face,” said Simitian. “These events give both the public and me a chance to interact in an informal, friendly atmosphere. It’s tremendously helpful to hear first-hand what folks have on their minds.”

Simitian holds his sidewalk office hours at local farmers’ markets. All questions are welcome, and no appointment is required.

“The farmers’ markets are a wonderful venue for sidewalk office hours,” Simitian said.  “The setting is relaxed, it’s easy to find, and a lot of folks stop by to talk on the spur of the moment. In these challenging times, it’s more important than ever for elected officials to stay in touch.”
